Decide Documentation

Decide MCP

Connect Decide to Claude, Cursor, or Zed and ask for analysis without leaving them. Your assistant hands over your data, Decide writes and runs the code, and the findings come back in the conversation. There is no API key to manage — you sign in to Decide once and approve what the assistant may do.

  1. 1Add the Decide server to your assistant using the snippet below.
  2. 2The first time it is used, your browser opens to Decide. Sign in and approve the permissions.
  3. 3Ask for analysis in plain language. Your assistant chooses when to use Decide.

Add the server

Pick your assistant. Claude Code takes a single command; the others take one entry in their MCP config file.

What you approve

You sign in on Decide’s own site, so your password is never shared with the assistant. It receives only a scoped token, which you can revoke at any time without changing your password.

  • Run analyses as you — Lets your assistant ask Decide to analyse your data.
  • Read your files — Lets it read back charts and spreadsheets Decide produced.
  • See your name and email — Shows which Decide account is connected.
  • Stay connected — Keeps the link alive without signing in every time.

What your assistant can do

Your assistant picks these on its own. You ask in plain language rather than naming a tool.

analyze

Runs a full analysis: computes figures, cleans data, cross-references sources, and builds charts or reports.

list_generated_files

Lists the charts, spreadsheets, and reports an earlier analysis produced.

read_generated_file

Reads one of those files back so your assistant can quote or summarise it.

whoami

Confirms which Decide account is connected, and what it is allowed to do.

Asking follow-up questions

Every analysis comes back with a session id. Ask a follow-up and your assistant reuses it, so your data is not sent twice. That makes follow-ups faster and means you are not charged to re-read the same file.

You: Which region grew fastest last quarter?

Decide: EMEA, at 34% quarter over quarter.

You: Now break that down by product line.

Reuses the same session — your file is not uploaded again.

Analyses draw on the credits in your Decide account, the same as using Decide directly. If you run out, your assistant will tell you and nothing is charged.
